Thank goodness women are no longer restricted to hormonal contraceptives. With the addition of the female condom, there are now more ways to avoid pregnancy and prevent from getting infections. This new kind of condom works as a sheath that is inserted into the vagina, some 8 hours before sexual intercourse. I’ve read some women complaining that it’s too hard to put on or that having something inserted inside them is quite irritating. My answer to that, read the instructions carefully. If you don’t put it on properly, the female condoms will not protect you from STDs and pregnancy. The female condom can be used in vaginal and rectal intercourse. Women should also be aware that female condoms should never be used with male condoms.
It comes in different sizes just like the male condoms. However, I have yet to see colored and flavored female condoms. Oh well, if it’s inserted into the vagina, the color and smell won’t make much of a difference anyway. It cannot be re-used! Once the male has ejaculate or you are done, you have to remove it as soon as possible. Water based lubricants will help with friction problem, but never use oil based ones with latex condoms.
